I’m Steve Darling and I am running for City Councillor in Port Coquitlam.
My wife, Jen, grew up in Port Coquitlam and I’ve called the Tri-Cities home for over a decade. Jen and I are very proud to be raising our children Hayley and Hunter in this beautiful city.
Some of you may recognize me from my time on Global which was a big part of my life for 20 years. I am very proud of the stories I told: fighting for the little guy who had their voice lost in conversation. I want to make sure this doesn’t happen for the residents of Port Coquitalm. The greatest lesson I have learned from being a journalist is how to be a good listener and to amplify other’s voices where I can. I want to amplify the voices of Port Coquitlam residents.
Some of the issues I am passionate about:
- Revitalizing the downtown core by welcoming and supporting new businesses providing more options for families to spend their hard-earned money to benefit their own city.
- Creating affordable housing options for residents of Port Coquitlam by working with developers to build the right kind of housing for our community.
- Making sure every single resident feels safe in our city, their homes on our trails and all recreational areas.
- Improved utilization of the recreational space PoCo has to offer all residents to attract major events, bringing economic benefit to our city
As your City Councillor, I will be a loud, confident voice asking the tough questions and fighting to make this city an even better place to live, work and play.
I invite you to join me and share your ideas, concerns, and passions - together we can achieve great things.
